They Might Be Giants

Wow.

I can't really say much more than that.

It doesn't get much more storybook, much more Cinderella, than that. There are games. There are Super Bowls. There are the ones we will remember for the rest of our lives.

This is one of them.

It wasn't just a Super Bowl. It wasn't just a championship game.

It was the New England Patriots going for perfection, dominating nearly everyone on the way. It was Tom Brady, American Icon, and Giselle. It was Randy Moss and an indomitable offense, and Asante Samuel and a perfect defense.

It was the New York Giants finding themselves somewhere no one expected. It was Eli Manning, kid brother of Peyton, wondering what the hell else he had to do to prove he belonged. It was starting 0-2, wondering why Tom Coughlin was still there, and then a turn around for the ages. It was beating Dallas, their biggest rival, and then beating Green Bay, in overtime, on a 47 yard kick that they probably shouldn't have made.

If there's ever a team to make a movie about, this is it.

It's not 'they might be Giants'. They ARE Giants.

  1. Who would've thunk it...New York Giants, World Champions!
They played great on both sides of the ball, their offensive line held up very well giving time for plays to develop. I played for Nebr Uni., as a RB/WR/KR ('50s), so I must confess to watching the offence more that the defence. Watching the game with family here in Nebraska, I saw one team wanted to win more than the other...The winner NYG!!!
My residence is New York, but I am on a slow ride to TAMPA! Go NYG and NYYs. 27/08.

  2. Absolutely amazing. I really didn't think Eli had that drive in him. He was the most excited I've ever seen him.

  3. Dinna get a chance to mention it earlier, but this ranks up there with squirrels:

Went to breakie on Sunday morning. Waitresses all had on NFL jerseys. One gal towered above the rest [easily 6' 2" or more] Had on a Giants jersey [in it's own right, beautiful imagery]. But wait, there's more!!

It was a #17, Burress jersey. Really. Talk about pre-destination!!
