With Days Like These...

This is it--the worst sort of waiting.

This is the day you spend doing nothing but waiting. You can go and analyze and re-analyze everything that's happened, but there's still at least a game left to play.

This is the day where part of you hopes for a miracle, part of you is rational and says, yes, this, this and this is why we can do it...and part of you is filled with some sort of dread. What if...

This is the day where you can try to get something done, something important, perhaps, like a paper or presentation, but your mind keeps wandering back to the beginning.

This is the day where you spend the entire thing just waiting for the day to end

This is the day where you can't watch the other baseball games, because you'll only be able to think about one thing.

This is the day where even college football doesn't seem to fill the void.

This is the day you spend running on hope, on faith, on the belief that better things will come.

At least, we're not alone. Cubs, Phillies and Angels fans all have to or did go through the same thing.

This day won't last forever. We'll play again soon enough.

  1. Yeah, that's exactly how I feel. You always seem to capture the emotions of a fan perfectly. To steal from Tom Petty, the waiting is the hardest part. My weekend is ruined because I'll be waiting/worrying until 6:30 tomorrow night.

Days like this you just wish for another game to wash away the bad memories and either end the misery or renew hope.

At least we're not the Phillies who lost 2 at home and now have to go on the road.

  2. The Phillies remind me of the Yanks in 2001, we lost two at home and won the third game only because of a crazy play by Jeter...

  3. Think of it as the game being only 9 hours away, makes the time speed up a little ;)

  4. Yes, especially when I consider that in that time frame I've got to sleep and get groceries.

And I think you mean 19 hours. 9 hours means they'd be playing at 7 AM!

  5. You're right! >_<...It appears my optimism may be getting the best of me XD

  6. Haha, it's all right. Optimism is already working: Stanford downed USC AT USC!
